• BIG 2 Molecular Mold KIT

    Price range: $71.00 through $102.00

Targeted DNA analysis of mold in settled dust. The BIG 2 kit provides collection materials and laboratory analysis for two fungal targets:

    • Stachybotrys chartarum: species-specific identification and quantification.
    • Penicillium/Aspergillus: combined group quantification, rather than identification of individual species.

Optional expanded testing: select the available add-on for Chaetomium alone, or the combination of Chaetomium, Cladosporium, and Trichoderma.

Standard turnaround: 3 business days. The day your sample arrives at the laboratory is day zero.

Included: sampling materials, instructions, laboratory analysis for your selected panel, a return envelope, and free return shipping.

Follow the supplied instructions for sampling locations and combining dust collections. Results quantify the selected fungal DNA targets; they do not measure mycotoxins or determine health risk.

  • The CAP-15 Molecular Mold Kit provides DNA-based laboratory analysis of 15 selected fungal targets in settled dust collected with a sterile swab.

Molecular testing identifies and quantifies the panel’s fungal targets without culture incubation. Some assays detect individual species; others detect groups of closely related fungi.

Included: sampling materials, instructions, a Chain of Custody form, laboratory analysis, a return envelope, and free return shipping.

Standard turnaround: 3 business days. The day your sample arrives at the laboratory is day zero.

Interpret results alongside sampling locations, moisture observations, and building history. CAP-15 does not measure mycotoxins, determine fungal viability, or diagnose a medical condition.

  • The ERMI Molecular Mold Kit provides DNA-based analysis of 36 fungal targets in settled dust. Your report includes individual target concentrations and a calculated Environmental Relative Moldiness Index (ERMI) score.

Collection: follow the ERMI dust-sampling instructions supplied with your kit. Contact the laboratory before substituting another collection method.

Included: sampling instructions, a dust collector, gloves, a sterile swab in a protective case, a Chain of Custody form, and laboratory analysis.

Standard turnaround: 3 business days. The day your sample arrives at the laboratory is day zero.

EPA developed ERMI for research and does not recommend routine public use. The score is not a health-risk threshold or a determination that a building is safe or unsafe.

  • Microscopy-Based Mold Analysis

    Price range: $31.00 through $54.46

    Microscopy-Based Mold Analysis
MoldScan is Assured Bio’s in-house name for fungal direct examination. Collect a surface sample using a swab or tape lift for laboratory examination of mold spores and other fungal structures.

Surface sample results describe the fungal structures observed and their relative abundance. Identification is based on visible characteristics and generally reports recognizable fungal types or groups rather than species-level identification.

    Choose Your Collection Method

    Swab sampling

    • Wet, uneven, soft, or porous surfaces
    • Areas difficult to reach with a tape lift

    Tape-lift sampling

    • Visible suspected mold growth
    • Hard, flat, nonporous surfaces

    Optional Add-On Analyses

Allergen Check: microscopic examination for the presence or absence of dander, pollen, and insect parts. This does not measure specific allergenic proteins.

Dust Characterization: assessment of dust components such as carbon, dander, natural fibers, starch, synthetic fibers, and wood.

Standard turnaround: 1 business day. The day your sample arrives at the laboratory is day zero.

  • The SIM Molecular Mold Kit—Survey of Indoor Molds—identifies and quantifies 36 selected fungal DNA targets in settled dust collected with a sterile swab.

Suitable for dust reservoirs on surfaces in carpeted or non-carpeted spaces. SIM uses the same fungal target panel as ERMI, without requiring ERMI’s standardized vacuum-dust collection protocol.

Composite sampling: collect from up to ten locations with one swab, following the kit instructions. Combined results represent the submitted sample and do not identify which location contributed each fungal target.

Included: sampling materials, instructions, a Chain of Custody form, laboratory analysis, a return envelope, and free return shipping.

Standard turnaround: 3 business days. The day your sample arrives at the laboratory is day zero.

Results measure selected fungal DNA targets. They do not date mold growth, measure mycotoxins, determine fungal viability, or diagnose a medical condition.
