There are few things more important to healthy households and communities than clean water, which is why Assured Bio Labs offers accurate and affordable water analyses that can easily be purchased online.

With these tests, customers have easy access to identifying potentially harmful substances in the water of their homes, businesses, and other facilities. The tests range from simpler analyses, like the Coliform/E. coli and Lead tests, to more in-depth analyses like The Advanced Homeowner Test, which tests for things like Arsenic, Alkalinity, Chlorine, etc., and The Works Test, which tests for over 30 potential contaminants, including Ammonia, Zinc, and Sulfate.

The lab also provides an FHA/VA Water Test panel to accommodate home buyers using FHA, VA, or USDA loans. This analysis detects the presence of Coliform bacteria and E. coli and quantifies Lead, Nitrate, and Nitrite. Other popular water analyses include The Well Water Test, which tests for the same contaminants as the FHA/VA test plus phosphorus, and The Metals Test, which tests for common metals like iron, nickel, copper, etc.

The FHA/VA Water Test and Well Water Test are popular for any customer using a well as their primary source of water. The EPA estimates that more than 23 million households in the United States rely on private wells for drinking water. The CDC recommends that all wells be tested for fecal indicative bacteria at least once per year or any time the well is serviced. If you purchase an analysis and the results indicate your well has potentially harmful bacteria, in most cases, shocking your well is a good first step to take.

How to shock your well:

  1. To disinfect the well, pour one gallon of chlorine bleach for every 50 feet of well depth.
  2. Run the faucets in the home until you can smell the bleach.
  3. Turn off the faucets and allow the bleach to sit in the pipes and well for at least 12 hours.
  4. After waiting 12 hours, run the faucets until the bleach odor is gone.
  5. Retest your water to confirm the well treatment was effective.

The well should be disinfected every time the pumps, pipes, or well itself are serviced. Other options, including UV light, can also be effective in disinfecting your well.
